summer is here once again. indonesian princess anggun sings summer in paris. sure that's an easy listening, but i think it's nicely crafted.

is she famous? anggun has since found fame in europe and the rest of asia from her smash song snow on the sahara five years ago. she may be the best singer that nobody has heard across the american market but i think she is still famous.

"I was 20 years old," she recalls, "and one day I went out and bought a one-way ticket to London. I ended up travelling on to Paris, though - I've always been fascinated by that special Parisian sense of beauty and grace -  and it was there that everything suddenly fell into place for me. I felt I had to make a go of things. After all, I'd left my career in Indonesia behind and there was no way I could just pack my bags and go home. I was too proud to do that!"

why i like her? her third album luminescence was produced in france, no wonder that most of the tracks are in french but this album totally pays tribute to her indonesian roots. and it is certainly to be recognized in the u.s. her looks is coveted and she is a definite honey on the rise, not too flaunted but enticing beauty, you know beautiful asian women are like that.

her sound is beyond the usual that we have usually accustomed to. her style is more of that pop to jazz and extending to the likes of billie holiday and joni mitchell to madonna. some tracks here are from her old album and there are everything from electric guitar feedbacks to slow ballads with more minimalist arrangements.

my wish? for her to serve me up a traditional hot and spicy dish from her native land and sing me to sleep with a dose of her sweet, soulful sound.
